This Is It - for the fansPosted by in Untagged |
My tribute to the King of Pop - Michael Jackson.....
Yesterday, I watched This Is It with my friend, Vicky. Both of us are MJ fans, and I know that some of you Czechs liked him, too, so these are thoughts from two English MJ fans, which we would like to share with you.
First of all, we felt very nervous as we stood in the queue waiting to get inside the cinema. I was dressed in black, including my 'MJ hat,' and Vicky was, too. We held our tickets and smiled at the other people who had come to enjoy the film. When we were seated inside we sat quietly and watched with big hopeful eyes as the trailers began. Then, bam! It started.
Neither of us said a word, or even moved a muscle. Our eyes were fixed on the huge image of MJ on the screen. His dancers were interviewed and each of them spoke about how MJ had influenced their lives and been so important. I liked that his dancers were not only from America. He chose the best dancers in the world ; a real multi-cultural feel. People forget that MJ's incredible dancing inspired so many people to dance. It was a real joy to watch his dancers move around him with big smiles on their faces as they could be so close to their idol. MJ, himself, moved like a person of 18, not a 50-yr-old man. He had the body and energy of a man much younger. How often do you see a 50-yr-old man dancing with such passion and being able to move his body in such a flexible way? Most men of that age probaby sit in pubs with their fat stomach, only watching other people dance. MJ could still feel the music. That was one of his special gifts.
To continue with the songs, the film showed him singing his old classics, such as Billie Jean, Man In The Mirror, Black or White, Thriller and Beat It. He was such a creative person, even 20 yrs after he first sang and danced to those songs. While he sang, he tried new dance steps, and we thought, 'wow,' as we listened to his true voice. It still had such a sweetness to it and a softness which other male singers cannot match. There was a special moment where MJ sang with an Oriental-African-American lady. Her voice complimented his perfectly. It was like listening to two angels singing. Both of us cried a little when we saw them singing to each other.
It was obvious that his London concerts were going to be so wonderful and beyond anyone's imagination ; maybe the best concerts of his life. For us, the fans, this film was a chance to see him one last time ; to say goodbye to a man, who brought white and black people together. No other musician in the last 50 yrs united so many people. This was another one of his special gifts.
"It don't matter if you're black or white"
"I'm not going to spend my life being a colour"
This was it. This is just the begining, though. A new generation of young people discovered his music this summer. I like to think positively, so wait 10-15 yrs and maybe one of his children will follow in their father's footsteps, and in the mean time, his death has made millions of people in the world feel closer to each other, at least through their love for him.
I missed this year's King of Pop party in Prague, but maybe if some people from DV want, we can have a DV party for MJ next August. He had so many interesting hairstyles in his career and his last hairstyle- "po ramena" - was long in my opinion.
I'm going to remember him as a good person and a good role model. It's your choice to remember MJ as you want.
"If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change"
